The Flamberge in Demon's Souls is more historically accurate. They were very similar to Zweihanders, which literally means two handed sword. The only difference was the wavy flame like shape of the blade, though it was mostly decorative. The Flamberge in Dark Souls is a high-fantasy styled version of the blade, which looks a lot cooler IMO.

You know, it's like if you had to fight big, scary monsters in real life, this is the weapon you would take.
