Vibrational spectrum

The Electromagnetic spectrum showing the wavenumber of several different types of light. When a molecule absorbs infrared radiation, its chemical bonds vibrate. The bonds can stretch, contract, and bend. This is why infrared spectroscopy is a type of vibrational spectroscopy.
