Someone stole my airpods and i have the location

My AirPods got stolen on a flight, so I turned on "lost" mode. The person who stole them is staying at the even hotel in Omaha right now. Obviously they don't have the heart to return them despite them knowing they're lost, but is there any way I can get them back? They're probably not smart enough to turn the location off before they go home.
