As far as dps goes, the slayer staff + magic dart update is outclassed by both tome of fire and trident at all levels. If you want to mage you might aswell tome of fire +fwave or trident. Magic darting with the slay staff(e) is slightly cheaper per cast though.If you doing any kind of slayer task then slayer staff (e) is the way to go if you are able to have enchantments in hand.
