Rusophycus latus is known from the lower Cambrian to the Ordovician (Alpert, 1976; W ebby , 1983; Fillion and Pickerill, 1990; Mángano et al. , 1996: Buatois and Mángano, 2011).Natalensis, Maculichna varia, Rusophycus isp., Treptichnus pollardi, and Umfolozia sinuosa. The topology of this particular Rusophycus assemblage suggests that the ... Neoichnological study and comparison of these bioturbation structures with the fossil record allow associating them as Cruziana- and Rusophycus-like traces, i.e. traces with features very similar ...Cruziana cf. problematica and Rusophycus carbonarius are present in very-fine to fine-grained sandstone layers interbedded with dropstone-bearing mudstone in the lower section of the middle interval. These deposits record the interplay of suspension fall-out sedimentation, ice-rafting, rain-out processes, and storm waves.

Cruziana and Rusophycus are commonly assumed to be trilobite trace fossils, although associated exoskeletons are almost invariably absent from host strata. In the lower Cambrian Dallas Bugt Formation of Ellesmere Island, Arctic Canada, high-energy, cross-laminated sandstones locally with dense populations of large Skolithos are overlain by thin-bedded, bioturbated, argillaceous, medium-grained ...Trace fossil. Trace fossils (or ichnofossils) are geological records of biological activity. [1] They are fossils, but not of the living things themselves. Probably the best-known examples are dinosaur trackways . Trace fossils may be impressions made on the substrate by an organism. An unusual Rusophycus assemblage from Upper Ordovician Georgian Bay Formation in Ontario departs radically from previously described examples and presents new challenges for understanding the behavior represented by these traces.

Rusophycus is a very distinctive trace, but it may be confused with the longer bilobed trace known as Cruziana. Rusophycus, however, is generally only up to about three times or so as long as wide, while Cruziana is typically longer. There is evidence that some ichnospecies of Rusophycus were made by trilobites. Cruziana and Rusophycus ichnospecies are clustered into groups based on the so-called claw formulae as revealed by scratch imprint morphology and grouping [33,34]. Of particular interest in the analysed strata are the Furongian–Tremadocian semiplicata group and the Floian–Darriwilian rugosa group [ 24 ].Rusophycus in the White-Inyo Mountains.--Rusophycus is more common than Cruziana in the White-Inyo Mountains. Rusophycus occurs in the upper member of the Deep Spring For-mation (common), in the Andrews Mountain Member of the Campito Formation (locally abundant), in the quartzite of the upper mem-ber of the Poleta Formation (uncommon), andCruziana tenella from the lower Cambrian of south‐central Sweden illustrates this intermittent mode of formation with a series of Rusophycus eutendorfensis leading into vertically undulating Cruziana that, at end stages of development, reflect a relatively equal depth distribution throughout the trace fossil and a great number of intergrading ...

After reviewing @aek post "Mystery Fossil of the Upper Cambrian" I saw a response by @doushantuo in regards to a rusophycus and it reminded me of a recent plate that I picked up while collecting at St. Leon, Indiana. The reason I picked it up was that it did remind me of a trilobite resting track that I had seen in the past, but thought it might be too large for trilobites found there.

Information is the single most important variable necessary to support research, monitoring and management of alien and invasive species. From identifying and predicting potential invasions to improving management applications, detection strategies, and risk assessments, GBIF plays a pivotal role in fulfilling data needs about these costly and disruptive forces of change. Rusophycus differs from Cruziana in its length-to-width ratio; the ratio is less than 2 in Rusophycus (Keighley & Pickerill, 1996).
