Oct 20, 2016 · The following year the Field Station invited us back to design and build a new gateway into their headquarters. The new crop of Dirt Works Studio members adopted a similar material palate from the previous year – rammed earth and reclaimed timber. As with the Roth Trailhead, we drew inspiration from the latent potential of the landscape.
About 1.5 miles north of the garden, you'll reach the McColl Reserve on the west side of the road; parking is available here at the circle drive near the Roth Trailhead, a large rammed-earth structure designed and built by KU architecture students. A toilet and a drinking fountain are just northwest of the trailhead.
