iirc the fire ant armour is a medium so still has decent protection from attacks. The armor gives crappy stun on block bonuses by default, but it gets a great set bonus and level 6+ second bonus of block power. It's also heavy armor so it's the most protective armor in the game. I have the full set of Roly Poly Armor (and not the rotten set). I like it as a heavy armor, but not a fan of the heavy cost to stamina.I haven’t tried it yet but I use Rolly Polly chest and legs, with broodmother helmet for a heavy set.
