Strimtom's hardcore season 1, 2 and 3 builds are easy to achieve, high survivability, decent new player starting builds that require no tomes. Some involve race/class/universal tree unlocks but a fair bit don't. I would say new players go look there instead of other places. The thorn spells that aoe around you were okay, but more for finishing off groups than 1 shotting them. A lot of the thorn style played as a close range aoe caster. Even the ground dots you want to use fairly close since due to lag, or the time it takes the dot to "apply" enemies would already run out before it lands. Strimtom plays on groups the vast majority of the time, consider the solo-ability of his builds. The Spyglass should just be straight up better for a trapper combined with any of the all in ones from Ravenloft/Sharn, but it loses Exceptional Int which a Wizard might want. Take note that the low level Ornamental daggers alternate between Crit and SP. So you probably want a level 4 and a level 8 version. ….
