May 24, 2020 · Ninth Street Bakery is still where it was, not on Ninth Street. It is no longer at the corner of two one-way streets. The streets are now two-way streets to accommodate all of the traffic as thousands of people make their way to the various stores, restaurants, and nightclubs there along the new streets of downtown Durham.

In 2013, two seemingly unrelated events occurred in Durham: the MoDH officially opened its doors and Ari Berenbaum (pictured below) became the new owner of Ninth Street Bakery. We all had full-time jobs plus were putting in mad hours with Ari's bake stand (Berenbaum's) project, my private cooking classes on the side, etc. etc. so all the work, planning and eventually prep/cooking was done after-hours at the bakery with bloodshot eyes and already aching backs.
