Several widespread marine limestones are important regional and interbasinal marker beds. Among these are the Providence Limestone Member, the Madisonville Limestone Member, and the Carthage Limestone Member. The Providence Limestone Member consists of as many as four limestone beds in a section as much as 33 ft thick.
