Gray shale. Green shale Sedimentary rocks form by the solidification of loose sediments. Loose sediments become hard rocks by the processes of deposition, burial, compaction, dewatering, and cementation. There are three categories of sedimentary rocks: 1) Siliciclastic sedimentary rocks form by the solidification of sediments produced by weathering & erosion of any previously existing rocks.

Facies-2: dark gray shale. Dark gray shale is thin-bedded (5–7 cm), intercalated shale present as intercalations with sandstone and siltstone, or as an individual package (Fig. 4). The lithofacies is most common in the lower part of the Hazara Formation. The dark gray shale lithofacies is missing upward with the increase of sandstone beds.
