Once you own Rome as a catholic nation, there is a modifier called Occupation of Rome which gives -1 diplo reputation and decrease in Papal authority, both bad when you are playing as Austria. Hi. I've played two games where I pulled this off and enacted the decision to "Rein in Northern Italy". After which I release Rome as a sovereign state, to later find out that nothing in Northern italy stays in HRE. Do I need to keep Rome around for a while after enacting the decision? As you understand I seek to be rid of the Occupation of Rome debuff. You cannot have a war score of more than 100%. However, if you separate peace your separate peace deal will have its own warscore - so if you separate peace Bohemia, you will still have 100% if you occupy all their provinces. This means you have a notional maximum warscore of 100* (number of peace-able enemies), in this situation, 300%.I'm trying to Rein in Northern Italy as Austria. I've got the Pope under control but Venice is in a massive trade league and is allied to Aragon. How should I proceed? It is 1467. Edit: PU with Bohemia and Milan, allied to Poland. Also, I could ally Brandenburg but I don't really want to get dragged into any wars either.

Assuming you stick to your region+ colonies, English channel is the richest end node, England/gb and Netherlands get the most trade power there with GB starting more powerful. There is a state in Mexico with 5 provinces all producing gold and you can easily get it to 40 ducats just by controlling it alone. No, as long as the land is held by any HRE prince the event won't fire. So if Milan and Tuscany take the land, then everyone stays in the Empire. THIS IS WRONG!!! So I played my game till 1490 and italy left because Tuscany had romagna and didn't make it into HRE teretory. So dont make the same mistake I did :S. You can stay in the HRE if you form Italy when you are the Emperor. Once you become the Emperor, the -3 unrest modifier goes away. By staying the HRE, you get -1 Unrest for being a HRE member, and -2 Unrest when the 2nd reform passes, so the -3 unrest is not that big a deal. In short, stay as the HRE . tracksomeoneelse Map Staring Expert • 8 ...The new direction of EU4 with Emporer is AWESOME! The decision adds all the provinces in question to the HRE. If you have the pop-up, hit the decision. Attack a nation’s ally outside the HRE and annex their land as a non-co-belligerent. moar HRE bux, ultimately moar HRE vassals to control and you pick up some sweet high dev land in the process. it means you get more IA because you have more members in your HRe, and you get a one-time-IA-boost upon completing the decision ("incident"). since you no longer have to conquer/vasallize the countries, I'D say it's definitely worthwhile.Reign in Italy (1.35) Hi guys, first time playing here as Austria. For Italy, try to have claims on all the land you are conquering, and make sure you are using your diplomats to improve relations with countries to prevent coalitions. I thought, why not the reverse? Instead of starting as France and taking emperorship (easy), let's start as Austria, maintain emperorship (easy), and then form France before 1500 (fairly difficult) to force double inheritance. These 3 simple steps will help you to form the greatest Italy anyone ever has in Eu4!Hall of the Mountain King" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed unde...R5: Became HRE as Brandenburg, took the option to rein in Italy in the Shadow Kingdom event, ended up reining in a lot of the princes with royal marriages and alliances. It's automatic once you reach 1490. You lose 10 IA for each italian prince that leaves the empire and win 5 IA for each prince that stays. It's a bit complicated in comparison with the previous "Rein in Italy". I allied all Italian princes except 2. You have to defeat in war or ally every Italian nation inside hre. Imo is worth it since the more princes you have, the more imperial authority you earn. You don't need to ally, they just need to have 150 opinion towards you. Remember the condition that's listed in the Shadow Kingdom event: "All of Northern Italy is in the Empire in 1490 and stays in the Empire until 1550".
