Dermapp reddit. I think it's only for submitted publications but I've encountered a similar issue. I was told not to include anything that has only been submitted unless it is an actual full project being submitted to a peer reviewed journal. I don’t think an abstract should go on there personally.

Kill Step 2. Barely anybody cares about clerkship grades as long as they're mostly honors and high pass. You don't need to get honors on every one. Just make sure to do well on step 2. That will be important since you haven't had the best luck with standardized tests (shelf exams). You will be fine as long as you score in that range for step 2.

For case reports, I think fonding residents who publish a lot may help. They often will write and publish more case reports than attendings and the attendings just give it a quick look through at the end. Residents often need students to help with case reports. Anyone know if a list of such programs exists? Leaning away from doing a research year and not trying to match at Harvard lolMy recommendation is to focus on getting settled and doing well in your classes for the first 3-4 months of first year up to the first year in general. Near the end of first year, begin to email your dermatology program director or chair and ask them if they could meet with you or do a phone call to give you advice on applying for dermatology.

So I'm an IMG trying to figure out how this application works, i know dermatology requires a prelim year, but I'm confused as to when and how you apply. In regards to #3 most calls are night and weekend, the day schedule is managed by a derm consult team/attending at most programs. I doubt you'll get a good answer for #4 since its super variable and will entirely depend on the severity of the call (ex: SJS vs. eczematous reaction have way different urgencies)The avg step 1 is around 250 yeah, but other things like school name, clinical grades, AOA status, connections, research, letters are also hugely important. A 240 is honestly low among that pool, and yes many people match with scores around there or less, but they likely make up with very very high end things otherwise. Most programs require three. A small handful only require two. Several mention that you can submit up to four. At least one must be from a dermatologist. I'm honestly just speculating. I'm sure that MSc would help at that program, but you're putting all your eggs in one basket at that point.
