Mar 31, 2017 · The North Pole is only a 20 minute drive from Fairbanks and Chena Hot Springs an hour drive. The roads are maintained and the people are friendly. There are many delicious restaurants. We especially liked The Cookie Jar for breakfast. We enjoyed the University of Fairbanks Museum and the Aurora Borealis movie in the museum.
Borealis Basecamp a/k/a the Moon! Capturing the Sights. As we headed out on the ice-covered Elliot Highway and climbed up the mountain—Vanessa’s teeth gritting the whole way and me just admiring the scenery—the snow clouds we’d been under all day began to clear. Our chances for seeing the aurora borealis were improving. YAY!

It really made seeing the Northern Lights even more special to see them from our "igloo". The igloo was warm and comfortable, and the Latitude 65 restaurant there was tremendous. We also really enjoyed the day long snowmobile tour and the dogsled adventure - lots of fun! We call that dome The Dark Park. When you visit Aurora Basecamp a guide will take you through The Dark Park and inform you of the different phases of the lights. This is a 10-15 minute introduction including the simulation of the current activity of the Aurora Borealis in our unique Northern Lights Mirror Tubes.Dec 6, 2022 · I highly recommend Borealis Basecamp. We stayed in an igloo and were delightfully surprised with the view and the accommodations. Comfy warm beds and an amazing view. Even got to see the Borealis from our bed on night two! As far as activities, do them all! Large lights out by 9. Maybe change the bulbs out because it doesn't need to be so bright. The light pollution is absolutely terrible if you're trying to get photos. 5. Send a communication in advance with expectations - like buying alcohol in advance of coming to camp and the code of conduct. 6.
Feb 5, 2020 · Borealis Basecamp is truly an amazing experience! My wife and I enjoyed every minute of our time with them. The igloos were amazing and it was wonderful having our own private space. We were in awe each night as laid in bed while stargazing and watching the norther lights dance across the sky! We highly recommend Borealis Basecamp!
