It's incredibly irritating that even with a master sneak skill high enough to stand directly in front of an npc without being noticed, I still manage to be countered slitting throats more than half of the time yet normal sneak attacks and ambushes are always 1 hit kills.

Keeping in mind the grab also slows you down by itself. In shambler this doesn’t often come up, but on sprinters it is often life or death despite being so subtle.whats the one of the best ways to do it?
